WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE’S HAUNTED HOUSE is an environmentally staged, interactive theatrical event with action occurring simultaneously in several different playing areas. The show is composed entirely of Shakespearean text taken out of its original framework and placed into the context of a Haunted House. In this compilation of text from 12 of Shakespeare’s plays, The Bard’s characters are summoned from their graves as ghosts and resurrected in modern-day Manhattan to re-live their most tragic moments before the eyes of the free-roaming audience-participants. Ultimately, the characters rebel against their creator, the Ghost of William Shakespeare, and try to kill him in an attempt to free themselves from their written destinies. The master playwright crushes their insurrection, as his legendary characters cannot sever the eternal link between themselves and their creator. WSHH has been performed throughout NYC at venues that include Belvedere Castle in Central Park, The Tall Ship Peking at South Street Seaport, Pier 25, a converted Times Square storefront, and Bryant Park.
