This show is fast, loud, funny, bloody and it couldn’t be more different than the read-aloud Shakespeare in high school could possibly be.” - The Gettysburg Times (read full article here)

Shakespeare’s blood-thirsty tale of ruthless ambition follows the rise and fall of Macbeth, a Scottish nobleman driven by fate, witchcraft, secret desires, and his wife’s dark influence. Faux-Real’s production defies time and space, setting the action in a modern Scotland recovering from the devastation of the American Civil War. Actors are staged above and around the Civil War wax figures at the Gettysburg Heritage Center’s battle theater, viscerally reminding the audience of the ever-present threat of violence throughout the play and the scars that civil wars leave upon a country.

Intrigued by the Shakespeare’s practice of giving actors scrolls with their lines and cues to memorize in preparation for a week’s rehearsal before opening night, this production marks Faux-Real’s first experiment with the Elizabethan rehearsal practice. Seasoned Faux-Real company members will arrive in Gettysburg February 17th with their roles memorized and director Tarbox will have five days to shape the performance for their opening night on February 21st. Audience members will feel the adrenaline of discovery as the professional actors experiment with the production before their very eyes.

Macbeth stars Corey Carthew (Macbeth), Constance Tarbox (Lady Macbeth), Mark Greenfield (Sergeant/Banquo/Hecate/Doctor/Seward), Lance Windish (3rd Witch/Malcolm/Porter/Murderer), Tim Moore (Duncan/2nd Witch/Macduff), Carrie DuBois (1st Witch/Donalbain/Murderer/Lennox/Lady Macduff/Gentlewoman) and Aidan Joseph Nelson (Ross/Murderer/Seyton), with guest appearances by Parker Tarbox-Windish (Messenger/Apparition/Macduff’s Son) and Alice Tarbox-Windish (Fleance/Servant/Apparition/Macduff’s Daughter).
